This Week in Robotics: 10/9/2023

Robotics is a rapidly growing and changing industry. Each week we put together a collection of stories to help keep you up to date. Unfortunately, we can't cover everything each week, but we try to provide updates that we think are relevant to your career in robotics.

PickNik Robotics, an industry leader in accelerating robotics development, announced this week that they have raised $2 million. This investment is led by Stellar Ventures and Cypress Growth Capital. The funding is planned to be used to develop MoveIt Studio, a development environment that enables a user to create, simulate, test, and deploy complex robot applications.

The German AI Robotics startup, NEURA Robotics, has raised $16 million from InterAlpen Partners, a US-based private equity firm which follows the European Union Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulations (SFDR). This new round of funding comes just months after NEURA Robotics raised $55 million. NEURA Robotics plans to use these recent investments for growth and expansion into the US market.

Saronic Technologies, a defense startup building autonomous ships, announced this week that it has raised $55 million in Series A. This investment round was led by Caffeinated Capital with participation from 8VC, Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Point72 Ventures, Silent Ventures, Overmatch Ventures, Ensemble VC, Cubit Capital, and the U.S. Innovative Technology Fund. This investment will provide funding for the two ships that the company is currently prototyping.

Formant announced that they have raised $21 million to support explosive enterprise growth. Formant is a cloud-based platform that enables robotics companies to deploy, scale, and manage their fleets more easily. This new round of investment is led by BMW i Ventures, Intel Capital, and GS Futures.
