This Week in Robotics: 8/28/2023

Robotics is a rapidly growing and changing industry. Each week we put together a collection of stories to help keep you up to date. Unfortunately, we can't cover everything each week, but we try to provide updates that we think are relevant to your career in robotics.

Franka Emika, a developer of collaborative manipulators, has filed for preliminary insolvency. Although this may seem like the end of a reputable brand, Franka Emika remains optimistic that future investors will help them recover from their financial troubles.

Hai Robotics, developers of autonomous case-handling robots, announced this week that it plans to partner with the material handling solutions provider Logistex. This will allow Logistex to offer more flexible material handling solutions to their customers through the application of the Hai Robotics solutions. Logistex has worked with other robotics platforms before, such as the systems from GreyOrange. However, systems from Hai Robotics like the HaiPick A42 provide unique functionality that will increase the range of solutions that Logistex can provide.

GITAI, a space robotics startup company, has expanded their Series B funding by $15 million. In addition to the $28.5 million raised in May of 2023, this brings their series B funding to a total of $43.5 million. GITAI plans to use this additional funding to expand its business in the US, which will create career opportunities in the US for those interested in space robotics.
